Thrales
40-44 Tamworth St., Lichfield
Thrales is a charming Olde Worlde restaurant set in the centre of
Lichfield. It's old dark timbered ceilings and little inglenook corners
are quite charming. Food varies from a GBP12.50 set 3 course menu to GBP15-20
for some main dishes. Menu varies, but expect a good choice of fish, meat and
poultry dishes. All are nicely cooked and presented. Oh, and the cheesecake
is fantastic.

The Tame Otter
Hopwas
The Tame Otter is one of a growing breed of pubs in the UK, owned by
Vintage Inns. Offers a good choice
of dishes, all reasonably prices (GBP5-10). The menu is the same everywhere,
but you'd never know it. I was lucky enough to have a Vintage Inn as my
local for a while, so I was glad to find this one. There are a couple of
others in the surrounding area.

The Red Lion
Pinwall
The Red Lion serves pub lunches during the day, but also has a
restaurant for both lunch and dinner. Dinner is from 19.15 onwards. A nice
selection of dishes, with a 3 course mealing costing GBP15-20. As most things
are fresh cooked, some slight alterations to set dishes are possible. Rooms
are comfortable, en-suite with television, though there isn't a phone.
For further information see the
Red Lion's website.

Although a pleasant area to walk around, you will need a car to
get about. Most places, like Hopwas and Pinwall, are miles from anywhere.
You
